Yellow-billed Kite with concussion
Rescuer and location of rescue: This bird was brought in by FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. It was found in Curry’s post.
The story: The bird was hit by a motor vehicle. X-rays revealed it had no breaks but it did have a concussion and all its tail feathers had been damaged.
Treatment: The bird was given Meloxicam painkiller and has recovered well. It is in good health, but cannot be released until it has moulted and re-grown it’s tail feathers. It will be fed lots of good food to hopefully accelerate the moult process.
Prognosis/outcomes: The bird is in a recovery enclosure. It will be released after moulting
