Lelo is a juvenile Yellow-Billed Kite (Milvus aegyptius) who is currently being trained to become apart of the flying team. His juvenile plumage has exquisite coloration and patterning which makes him a standout for us!
Yellow-billed kites migrate annually and spend the summer months (August-April) in Southern Africa, and winter months (April-July) in Kenya. Despite their larger wingspan, these birds feed predominantly on smaller flying insects, their favourite being termites. They will also feed on small birds, reptiles, and carrion if the need arises.
